About the Project

When I was faced with navigating the business of death, I felt clueless, light on resources and very alone. My hope is that So, What Now? will be a community and resource that helps make a very difficult time a bit easier. The aim is to provide access to information on funeral planning, legal matters, estate issues, mental health resources and a community gathering point for people going through a similar situation.

So, What Now?

So, What Now? is a guide and resource to help people navigating through the loss of a loved one. Or possibly a not so loved one. Death sucks and having to google, “how to sell a house three states away,” when you’re lost in grief makes it even harder. The hope is that this project makes a really crappy time just a little bit easier.

This is a passion project for me. After my mother died in 2017, my sister and I were thrown into a number of situations that we weren’t prepared for and didn’t quite have the tools or resources we needed. I see So, What Now? as a home base for people going through a similar time. The project provides access and information on funerals, funeral homes, legal matters, closing an estate, as well as emotional support and mental health access.

Brand Identity

Grief, Loss and Death can be really hard and dark. I didn't want the look of the material I presented to feel that way. The images and graphics are based on a warm, inviting and slightly playful color palette. I incorporated big, bold repeating shapes that tied all of the imagery together.

User Feedback

User feedback pushed this project to another level. I approached other folks I knew had been through a major loss. Their suggestions created more resources for those who are dealing with the business of death and reinforced the community-building I hope to acheive with this project.

Next Steps

Seeing this project up until this point has been a massive labor of love. My big hope for this project is for it to live on and truly become a space where people can find community and resources. And that that space will grow and morph to better serve everyone who's searching for a little help while navigating loss and grief.
